This week we will begin investigating the age of exploration and its effect on all nations involved. We will discuss Spain's empire in the Americas, by looking closely at Columbus, Pizzaro, and Cortes, to name a few. We will discuss the interactions between the conquerors and the conquered, including disease, slavery, and the changes in culture. Emphasis will be placed on the Columbian Exchange and the impact it had on the Old and New Worlds. Towards the end of the week we will begin to discuss the age of absolute rulers in Europe, and the lasting impact some of them had in years to come.
