INTEL PROJECT MAY 2010
ATTENTION STUDENTS!
Below are the directions & expectations for our Glogster Projects that we will begin on our American Imperialism & Progressivism Unit!
1.) TASK: Students will conduct independent research & Propaganda Glogsters on the following topics:
-Effects of the Industrial Revolution & Social developments of the late 19th & early 20th centuries
-American Imperialism (Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Philippines)
-US involvement in WWI & the homefront
-The Roaring Twenties (mass media, culture, consumerism)
2.) OK, so now you will click the link below to watch a video tutorial on how to get started with Glogster!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80NISdsoouE
3.) After viewing the video, we will have a discussion to clear up misconceptions about using Glogster & then you will go to the link below to create an account for your Glogster!
http://www.edu.glogster.com
*YOU WILL WRITE DOWN YOUR USERNAME & PASSWORD ON MY PRE-MADE LIST IN CASE YOU FORGET IT!
4.) Ok, so now that you have created an account, I want you to begin conducting your online research for your Propaganda Glogster!
-Remember, just because it's on the internet doesn't mean it's 100% accurate! Look at other sources & your textbook to compare what you have found! Remember that you will need to give credit to your sources to avoid plagiarism/copyright issues!
5.) This is a Propaganda Glogster, so you will have to create it using IMAGES, TEXT, WEBLINKS, & VIDEOS that help you defend your position on an issue from the topics for this project, just as journalists and political cartoonists did in the historical era we have been studying.
6.) Once completed, students will peer-assess eachother's Glogsters in a walkthrough using a rubric that will be handed out to all students. Then we will discuss all Glogsters as a class, examining their historical accuracy & to determine a grade for each student!
Finally, HAVE FUN & GOOD LUCK!!
