This week we will continue our studies of the roots of American democracy. Emphasis will be placed on our English heritage and the documents and people who influenced the founding fathers. We will take a look at some primary sources such as the Magna Carta and the Declaration of Independence. We will begin to investigate the American Revolution and the influence it had on our government.

American Government/Economics: Aug 31-Sep 4
This week we will begin our investigation of the U.S. Constitution and why it replaced the Articles of Confederation. The Constitution is the foundation on which U.S. government and society are based, and it affects our lives every day. In the later part of the week we will look more closely at the structure of our government. We will begin a group project on the 3 branches that make up our government: the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. Here is a great link to the U.S. Constitution: http://constitutionus.com/ and check out the Bill of Rights: http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constitution.billofrights.html
